ABC Owned Television Stations are launching an impactful documentary series, “Our America: In the Black,” aimed at highlighting the financial challenges and opportunities within the Black community. This series investigates the hurdles that hinder economic prosperity and showcases how innovative technology can be harnessed to close the wealth gap. Through personal stories and expert insights, the series brings to light the struggles and successes of individuals striving for financial health and generational wealth.

Personal Journeys Toward Financial Empowerment

The documentary features several individuals whose stories illustrate diverse paths toward financial empowerment. One narrative follows a young Los Angeles resident, Hannah, a foster youth aspiring to be a mechanical engineer, who sees education as her gateway to breaking the cycle of poverty. Another story takes viewers to New York to explore RISE, a nonprofit working to eradicate racial discrimination through sports and education, highlighting how community initiatives can drive economic equity. In Atlanta, the focus shifts to the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), which capitalizes on the city’s rich Black entrepreneurial spirit to foster business opportunities and economic growth.

Premiering Across Multimedia Platforms to Inspire Action

Set to premiere on Hulu’s Black Stories Always hub and various ABC streaming platforms, “Our America: In the Black” aims to stimulate dialogue and inspire action toward financial wellness in the Black community. By broadcasting the series across multiple media outlets, including linear TV, the initiative seeks to reach a broad audience, encouraging a collective effort to understand and overcome the financial disparities that persist today.
