Empowering Local Businesses Through Financial Education
The Berlin Chamber of Commerce has initiated a new educational series aimed at bolstering financial literacy among the local business community. Launched on February 1st and extending until the end of March, this series provides a valuable learning opportunity for both established merchants and aspiring entrepreneurs within Berlin. According to Ryan Nellans, the executive director of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, the program is designed not only to support current business owners but also to empower emerging entrepreneurs with essential financial knowledge.
Engaging Sessions on Diverse Financial Topics
Conducted at the Berlin Welcome Center, the financial literacy series consists of eight detailed presentations, scheduled every Thursday morning through March 28th. Each session begins at 8 a.m., featuring a mix of lectures and interactive Q&A segments to enhance understanding. Topics covered range from basic bookkeeping and understanding financial statements to social media marketing and cyber liability, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of business essentials. These sessions are intended to fill educational gaps and strengthen the local economy’s resilience.
Supporting Entrepreneurial Spirit in Worcester County
With the goal of reinforcing Berlin’s vibrant community of small businesses—which represents the highest number of small businesses per capita in Maryland—the Chamber offers these sessions free of charge. A complimentary breakfast is also provided to encourage participation and facilitate networking among local business owners. Nellans emphasizes the Chamber’s dedication to enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of the community, fostering an environment where every business owner has the tools to succeed and contribute to the region’s rich history and culture. This initiative reflects the Chamber’s commitment to supporting sustainable business growth and financial sophistication on the Eastern Shore.
