Empowering Key Workers with Financial Education

In a significant move to bolster financial literacy, the Financial Times’ Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign (FLIC) has received a substantial £652,000 grant from the Covid-19 Support Fund. This funding is dedicated to aiding healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals in the service and hospitality sectors in improving their financial management skills. Established by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) in May 2020, the Fund was designed to support those severely impacted by the pandemic, raising over £100 million from leading companies in healthcare and long-term benefits sectors.

Strengthening Financial Resilience Among Vulnerable Groups

The donation will enhance FLIC’s “Making Money Work” initiative, aiming to fortify the financial resilience of workers most susceptible to the economic strains of the pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis. FLIC plans to expand its educational outreach by developing innovative adult learning modules and engaging with reputable social media influencers to reach a broader audience. This effort underscores the Fund’s commitment to long-term support for individuals and communities facing significant financial hardships.

A Legacy of Support and Future Impact

This latest contribution marks the culmination of the Fund’s efforts to support charities tackling the immediate and ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic. With a focus on diverse groups including dementia sufferers, domestic abuse victims, and those facing mental health challenges, the Fund has facilitated crucial support across various sectors. FLIC’s Executive Chairman, Aimee Allam, emphasized the transformative potential of this grant, enabling the creation of high-quality, self-directed learning materials tailored to meet the specific needs of key workers, thereby enhancing their financial stability and future prospects.
