One of 25 Stonecrest students chosen to receive a 2024 Prudential Emerging Visionary prize has been chosen as one of 25 finalists nationwide.
Caden Harris, a 14-year-old boy, said his interest in learning about financial literacy fueled a number of effective projects that have helped other children and teenagers understand how and why cash issues.
“My interest started when I was 7 years old, and I would go to business conferences with my father where they were always talking about financial literacy,” Harris said. “It was my responsibility to learn more and then impart it to other children in a way that they had know.”
Making boards of financial cards with information that was simple for children to understand and study was Harris’ first endeavor. According to Harris, “I paid to had 50 decks of financial cards printed to offer, and I sold out of the tickets in just two days.” When I first became aware that there was a need for fiscal education in my neighborhood.
Harris went on to create and buy a puzzle and write a book about financial literacy, but his most recent venture has taken him on the road and on a TV show.
“I kept adding items to my firm until it led me to start my smart classroom,” Harris said. I used the wealth I had saved from selling my goods to buy a vehicle, but I needed more to restore the bus. I received a $50,000 capital raise to pay for the renovation, which was featured on the Hulu-airing program Big RV Remix. I’ve been able to reach even more children and teach them in a fun and engaging way by adding my monetary vehicle to my resources.
The vehicle is equipped with three TVs, a mock place where students can learn about finance, a mock food store where students can practice budgeting, and a mock share exchange to learn about stocks, according to Harris’ site.
Harris’ efforts have then earned him the title of Emerging Visionary through Prudential Financial.
According to Prudential Financials’ website, the annual award recognizes outstanding students between the ages of 14 and 18 who have developed creative, daring solutions to social and financial issues in their areas.
According to a news release, Harris will receive a $5,000 award to help him advance his development, as well as an all-expenses-paid trip to a three-day summit in April where he will receive instruction, knowledge growth, and networking opportunities with Prudential Financial staff and other young officials.
“It’s wonderful to get recognized for my job in my area, but it’s unfathomable to possess help funding my mission and the mentoring that comes along with it,” Harris said. I’m even looking forward to connecting with other teenagers who are also advancing their operations.
Harris stated that one of his goals is to share his financial education classes with the rest of the world.
“My goal is to tell more than 500,000 kids around the world about economic education,” Harris said. “I just added a textbook curriculum to my program that can be used in any end school,” I said.
