NKB Informs Customers About Data Protection and Advises them to Stay Away from Cautious Ads to Prevent Fraud

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) is dedicated to enhancing financial literacy across society, promoting financial inclusion, and increasing customer awareness. To achieve these goals, the bank actively supports the “Let’s Be Aware” initiative initiated by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with regional banks and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA).

To accomplish this mission, NBK publishes educational materials, awareness content such as video clips and written articles, and offers advice on all its social media platforms and digital channels. It also shares information from the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) to raise awareness about scam techniques and educate the public on how to avoid falling victim to scams in various aspects of society.

NBK places significant emphasis on the importance of safeguarding personal and banking information. The bank provides consumers with advice on how to protect their information, raises awareness about the issue, and warns against engaging with dubious advertisements that entice individuals with attractive profits.

Dubious advertisements pose a substantial risk by requiring customers to download remote access apps on their personal devices or share bank information to claim supposed prize money into private accounts. Consequently, NBK strongly advises against sharing credentials with others, as doing so can lead to the theft of personal data. Additionally, the bank alerts consumers to various scams used by con artists to coax sensitive information or OTPs from unsuspecting individuals.

Through guidance offered on its various modern communication channels, NBK is committed to protecting its customers and enhancing their awareness regarding the increasing number of scam attempts employing different tactics. Moreover, NBK explicitly states that it will never request customers’ personal information via phone, SMS, or email and warns them not to respond to messages that appear fraudulent and aimed at stealing their money or data.
