Rafael Consing Assumes Role as CEO of Maharlika Investment Corporation Under President Marcos’ Administration

Inauguration and Initial Focus

Rafael Consing has officially taken the helm as President and CEO of Maharlika Investment Corporation (MIC), sworn in by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in a ceremony held in Manila. This appointment follows his role as Executive Director at the Office of Presidential Adviser for Investment and Economic Affairs. Immediately following his induction, Consing met with President Marcos to outline his strategic vision for the first 100 days, focusing on activating the nation’s first sovereign wealth fund.

Strategic Initiatives and Investment Goals

During his initial discussions post-ceremony, Consing outlined key areas for investment which include enhancing tourism infrastructure, strengthening agri-forestry, ensuring power security, advancing digital infrastructure, and developing financial services. His role involves diversifying and managing a robust portfolio for the Maharlika Investment Fund, aiming to drive significant returns through both domestic and international markets, guided by the newly enacted Republic Act 11954.

Leadership and Long-term Economic Strategies

With a wealth of experience in corporate management and strategic economic planning, Consing is set to implement best practices in asset management aligning with global standards such as the Santiago Principles. His leadership is expected to foster expertise in finance, risk management, and governance, aiming to bolster the Philippines’ economic stability and growth.
