Sparking Financial Curiosity in Kids

April marks Financial Literacy Month, and TP Bank has launched the “Financial Fun Fest” at the Council Bluffs Public Library. This vibrant event introduces children to basic financial concepts through engaging and playful activities. Organized by the TS Institute, the bank’s nonprofit dedicated to financial education, the event transformed the library into an interactive financial learning playground for two exciting days.

Interactive Learning Stations Fuel Financial Literacy

The library set up various interactive stations designed to make financial learning tangible and fun for children. These included a mock store where kids could use real and pretend money to ‘purchase’ items, a coin etching station, a beanbag toss for budgeting practice, and a lively musical chairs game themed around currency. The highlight for many was the “money machine” experience—a wind tunnel filled with flying Monopoly bills where kids tried to catch and tally their ‘earnings’.

Community Impact and Ongoing Events

The initiative reflects TS Bank’s commitment to invest 10% of its taxable income back into community enrichment projects like this. Diane Niedermyer, a local parent, praised the event for offering a fun and educational outing for her children. Over the month, the library, in collaboration with TS Bank, will host more sessions aimed at enhancing financial skills among children and adults alike, including workshops on budgeting, saving, and understanding credit.
