‘Paper Right’: A Melodic Call to Financial Empowerment

Wyclef Jean, in collaboration with TIAA and fellow artists Pusha T, Lola Brooke, Flau’jae, and Capella Grey, has unveiled a new track titled ‘Paper Right’. More than just a musical release, this song serves as a vibrant call to action to confront financial disparities that disproportionately affect Black communities in America. The track emphasizes the significance of financial literacy and encourages listeners to actively participate in discussions about building generational wealth and planning for a financially secure retirement.

Amplifying Financial Literacy Through Music

‘Paper Right’ stands out not only for its catchy rhythm but also as a crucial part of a larger effort to bridge the racial and gender gaps in retirement income. Each play of the song contributes to First Generation Investors, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering investment literacy among students. Wyclef Jean uses his platform to transform music into a powerful tool for advocacy, pushing for greater financial knowledge and preparedness among Black Americans, a demographic that notably lags in retirement savings.

Advocacy Beyond the Music

Jean passionately advocates for economic education, drawing on his personal experiences with suboptimal investment decisions to guide and inspire young individuals. He urges the younger generation to make informed financial decisions, highlighting the importance of understanding government programs and utilizing financial instruments effectively. Through ‘Paper Right’, Jean aims to ignite a broader movement toward financial literacy, encouraging young Black creatives and others to secure their economic futures and contribute to closing the longstanding wealth gap.
