Strengthening Financial Literacy Partnership

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alongside GCash, the premier financial super app in the Philippines, have unveiled the 2023 Financial Education Campaign, aiming to bolster the financial acumen of Filipinos. This initiative targets millions of individuals and businesses ranging from nano to medium-sized enterprises, enhancing their financial wellness through digital solutions. The launch was marked by a ceremonial agreement signing during the SEC’s 87th anniversary, signifying a fortified partnership aimed at fostering economic empowerment.

Educating Through Engaging Platforms

The campaign kick-started with a webinar titled “Fulfilling Your Wildest Negosyo Goals: Smart and Sustainable Investing for Your Business,” broadcasted live on both the SEC’s and GCash’s Facebook platforms. The session featured discussions on a wide array of financial topics including investor protection, versatile investment avenues, and effective debt management, all tailored to aid MSMEs in their growth and safeguard against financial fraud. This event not only highlighted practical financial strategies but also showcased GCash’s dedication to enhancing financial literacy through accessible and engaging educational content.

Continuous Financial Education Efforts

Following the initial webinar, further educational endeavors included a seminar at the SEC Headquarters focused on eradicating poor financial habits, aptly named “Shake It Off: Shedding Bad Financial Habits for a Secure and Prosperous Life.” The campaign continued to spread financial wisdom through a radio show “Usapang Kaperahan With SEC and GCash,” where significant figures such as SEC Chairman Emilio Aquino and Mark Ilao from GCash discussed essential topics on financial security, savvy investing, and the importance of saving. These initiatives exemplify the ongoing commitment to enhancing the financial understanding of Filipinos, ensuring they are equipped to make informed financial decisions.
