Launch of an Ambitious Financial Literacy Campaign
In the Philippines, the Prudence Foundation, in partnership with JA Philippines, has revitalized its commitment to fostering financial literacy among youth through the relaunch of their program, “One Student to a Million: Cha-Ching Shaping a Financially Literate Generation.” This initiative aims to fundamentally transform the financial acumen of young Filipinos, equipping them with the skills to make informed financial decisions. Established in 2016 by the Prudence Foundation and Pru Life UK, the program has grown to incorporate a comprehensive financial education curriculum
Curriculum Integration and National Impact
The Cha-Ching program’s effectiveness is underscored by its integration into the Grade 4 school curriculum, introducing young students to essential financial concepts and investments. This early exposure aims to equip children with the knowledge to manage their finances confidently, whether dealing with small allowances or larger sums. Praised as a leading financial literacy initiative in the Philippines, Cha-Ching has been recognized with several awards, including the Silver Asia-Pacific Stevie Award and the Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards.
Expanding Reach and Enhancing Engagement
This year, the Cha-Ching program aims to ambitiously expand its reach to over one million students and 28,000 teachers across the Philippines, establishing a significant benchmark in financial education. The program features innovative tools like the Cha-Ching Money Adventures (CCMA), an interactive online game that teaches money management through engaging modules on earning, saving, spending, and donating. These resources are designed not only to educate but also to make learning about finances an enjoyable and impactful experience for both students and educators.
Through these initiatives, Cha-Ching is setting a precedent for financial education, proving that financial literacy is not only for adults but can be effectively taught and embraced by children, laying the groundwork for a future of well-informed financial decisions.
