Julia Cook, a children’s author, has made it her career to translate significant life lessons for her young readers. FREMONT, Neb (KMTV).
She also stopped in her town on Wednesday to display her most recent creation.
According to Cook, “this book teaches children about the value of the four issues: earning, saving, giving, and spending responsibly.”
Cook recently released her most recent book, “I am Money.”
The book teaches valuable life lessons about saving and how price is not determined by wealth.
Classes that are well-known in Archbishop Bergan Elementary’s hallways.
“Our main concern with our children is to prepare them for our international community by making them as well-rounded as possible.” Financial education is a crucial component of that, according to Archbishop Bergan Elementary director Lori McIntyre.
Through a special relationship with RVR bank, where they provide the kids with the bank experience, the children get their feet wet in the world of financing.
“I claim to get them, but we essentially pay them with pie and a t-shirt.” However, they enter and oversee the institution on a weekly basis, according to RVR Bank’s Cindy Slykhuis.
Talan Powers, a sixth-grader at Archbishop Bergan, said, “But we walk in, we set it all up, and then we allow the kids in and we help them.”
The students receive a check for the money they saved in elementary school, with some saving more than $1,000.
The relationship between Archbishop Bergan and RVR is in its 14th year, and over the years, McIntyre has witnessed the tradition of older students motivating their younger peers continue.
Jordyn Werner, a fifth-grader at Archbishop Bergan, said, “My brother used to bring in money all the time, and now I bring wealth every Tuesday.”
Cook didn’t just take the kids when she went to see Archbishop Bergan. She wanted to practice with the people in her home before embarking on a global tour with her most recent work.
I called Bergen and asked if I could exercise with your children. Therefore, this is a practice run for an extremely enjoyable program, and these children will be upfront with me to show me if it stinks. Is it not? Cook remarked.
