Molloy University, together with Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union and 100 Hispanic Women, has introduced a new scholarship initiative aimed at supporting the financial education of young Hispanic women on Long Island. Announced on March 21, the 100 Hispanic LI Scholarship program is designed to help bridge the educational attainment gap for Hispanic women, with an initial allocation of $5,000 divided into three scholarships.
Expanding Support for the Hispanic Community
This collaborative effort marks a significant expansion in the partnership between Molloy University, Ocean Financial, and 100 Hispanic Women, focusing on enhancing educational and financial literacy opportunities. The scholarship will benefit young Hispanic women attending or planning to attend Molly University, offering them vital support towards achieving their academic and career goals in the coming academic year.
Empowering Future Leaders through Education
The commitment to education and empowerment is further evidenced by Ocean Financial’s significant pledge of $500,000 over five years to Molloy University, targeting the enhancement of financial literacy among students. This partnership also supports the Mentoring Latinas Program at Molloy, which provides Latina high school students with exposure to university life and activities geared towards their cultural and educational enrichment. Wendy Espinosa, a former participant and now coordinator of the program, emphasizes the program’s impact on her life, highlighting the importance of representation and tailored support within educational frameworks.
