Financial Literacy Awareness at Shreve Memorial Library

Starting April 15th, Shreve Memorial Library in Caddo Parish launches “Cash Smart Week,” a series of events dedicated to enhancing financial literacy among its patrons. Throughout the week, ending April 21, the library hosts a range of interactive sessions designed to educate community members of all ages on effective money management, budgeting, saving, and the importance of making informed financial decisions.

Engaging Financial Education for All Ages

The week features engaging workshops and activities aimed at demystifying financial concepts and encouraging smarter financial habits. Red River Bank will lead several sessions on how to recognize and protect against identity theft, fraud, and scams, emphasizing the emotional and financial impact of such threats. These sessions, called “Red River University: How to Identify and Avoid Scams, Identity Theft, and Fraud,” are free and provide crucial knowledge for safeguarding personal finances.

Comprehensive Schedule of Events

In addition to sessions on fraud protection, the library offers educational activities for both adults and children, aiming to cover various aspects of financial literacy. From interactive games that teach children about budgeting and saving to discussions on banking fundamentals for adults, the library ensures that financial education is accessible and engaging for the entire community. Noteworthy events include a family-oriented session on basic banking principles by Barksdale Federal Credit Union and several budgeting workshops aimed at helping adults and teens develop and manage their personal and family finances effectively.
