State Farm Supports Junior Achievement with $70,000 Grant

Tampa, FL. February 2, 2024 – The Junior Achievement of Florida Foundation proudly announced the receipt of a $70,000 grant from State Farm. This generous contribution will bolster Junior Achievement programs across eight Florida regions, providing thousands of young people access to renowned financial literacy and career readiness experiences. For eight years, State Farm has steadfastly supported Junior Achievement, contributing over $440,000 to advance financial education and entrepreneurial skills among youth.

Expanding Learning Opportunities Statewide

The grant will be allocated to various regions to enhance programs tailored to local needs. JA Tampa Bay, serving Hillsborough, Polk, Highlands, and Sarasota Counties, will use the funds for key initiatives like JA BizTown, which immerses 5th graders in economic concepts and workplace skills through hands-on activities. Additionally, JA Finance Park offers students a real-life simulation to apply financial principles and balance personal budgets, while 3DE schools teach high schoolers business skills through case studies.

In Miami, the funds will support interactive JA Days for elementary students, emphasizing financial literacy and workforce readiness. Regions like JA Space Coast, JA North Florida, and JA South Florida will implement JA Personal Finance, helping high schoolers understand the link between current financial choices and future financial freedom. JA Palm Beaches will provide both JA Personal Finance and JA Inspire Career Expo to help students discover their strengths and career interests.

Innovative Programs and Community Engagement

JA Central Florida plans to introduce JA Finance Park Virtual Advanced to 12th graders, equipping them with knowledge for informed financial decisions. Meanwhile, JA Southwest Florida will enhance programs like JA Personal Finance, JA Economics for Success, and JA Career Success. Across all areas, State Farm representatives will collaborate to create an interactive Career Exploration booth for the JA Inspire Career Expo, offering students insights into over 100 business and education booths with live Q&A sessions.

More than 25,000 students statewide will benefit from these programs, with State Farm associates volunteering both in-person and virtually. Richard George, President of Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay, expressed gratitude for State Farm’s continued support, highlighting the positive impact on economic equity and mobility for Florida’s youth. “Junior Achievement is equipping our young people with the tools to transform their futures, creating a brighter tomorrow for all,” said George.
