Reintroduction of Junior Achievement to Texarkana

After a five-year hiatus, the Center for Financial Literacy and Investment (CFLI) at Texas A&M-Texarkana has proudly announced the return of Junior Achievement East Texas (JAET) to the Texarkana community. This esteemed nonprofit organization focuses on enhancing financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship education for K-12 students. Junior Achievement programs are facilitated by volunteers from the local business sector, with JAET headquartered in Longview, Texas.

Community Support and Engagement

Jay Davis, Executive Director of the CFLI at A&M-Texarkana, expressed his excitement about the return of Junior Achievement to the area. He emphasized the importance of early financial education to help young people manage the complexities of the financial world. During an April luncheon, Flecia Droege, Program Coordinator for JAET, presented the financial literacy curriculum to leaders from local banks, credit unions, and school districts.

The Need for Volunteers

Justin White, Texarkana Market President with Guaranty Bank & Trust, shared his enthusiasm for partnering with local schools to provide students with a solid foundation in financial literacy. However, the program’s success depends on a robust volunteer base from the community. Those interested in volunteering to make a difference in students’ lives can contact JAET at (903) 297-2202 or email Flecia Droege at [email protected].
