Credit Union Royal Receives Dual Honors for Financial Education Initiatives
In Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Credit Union Royal has recently been honored with the 2023 Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award by the Wisconsin Credit Union League. Empowering Change Through Education in Correctional Facilities
Since its launch in 2015, the Correctional Facility Financial Education (CFFE) program has been instrumental in teaching financial literacy skills such as responsible spending, budget creation, managing bank accounts, borrowing principles, and setting financial objectives. This program helps incarcerated individuals prepare for reintegration into society, empowering them to make informed daily financial decisions. To date, Royal has educated over 2,900 inmates, with an annual enrollment of approximately 275 participants in correctional facilities across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
A Commitment to Community and Financial Well-Being
Cooper Larson, Community Financial Education Coordinator at Royal, emphasizes that the program ensures that everyone, including justice-involved individuals, has access to crucial financial knowledge for success. Royal’s efforts exemplify its mission to positively impact the community and uphold the credit union’s philosophy of mutual assistance. This program not only addresses the financial education gap for underserved populations but also showcases Royal’s dedication to fostering financial security for all.
